The G350 Media Gateway provides a single system networking solution designed for enterprises with small branch offices of 8-40 users.  As part of an Avaya Enterprise Connect Solution, the G350 is designed to network back to a central External Call Controller (ECC), such as the S8500 or S8700 Media Server.  This extends Avaya Communication Manager telephony services from a central media server to all branch office locations, significantly reducing costs by enabling the enterprise to design and administer telephony services for all remote branch office locations from one central location.

To simplify remote office deployment and management, the G350 integrates a VoIP Media Gateway, an IP WAN router, and a LAN switch into a single converged networking device.  It features a six-slot modular chassis that accommodates an optional S8300 Media Server, and a variety of media modules.  The G350 features an integrated TDM/IP architecture that supports a variety of station and trunk interfaces:
  • Power over Ethernet (PoE) IP telephones
  • DCP digital telephones
  • Analog telephones and trunks
  • E1/T1 trunks
  • ISDN PRI trunks
  • ISDN BRI trunks
  • E1/T1 IP WAN data lines

This allows the G350 to be configured for integration into all TDM, hybrid TDM/IP and all IP Telephony environments, giving enterprises great flexibility to adapt to changing business needs, and to migrate their telephony infrastructure at their own pace.

What's New With This Release

The G350 supports the flexibility to be used in TDM, IP, or hybrid networks. This enables customers incredible latitude in planning for the convergence of their networks. The additional flexibility provided by the ability to use the G350 in combination with an S8300, that can optionally be installed in the G350 as a Local Survivable Processor (LSP) is incredibly powerful.

Enabling the S8300 to take over telephony control as server of last resort, allows the remote office to continue to operate in a standalone mode if connectivity to the central server is lost. The G350 also supports configuration of an internal S8300 media server as an Internal Call Controller (ICC). In this mode, the G350 acts as an independent, standalone telephony gateway/server all the time.

The G350 and G700 media gateways share many common media modules and the same S8300 Media Server which protects customers previous investments.

  • Multi-Protocol Support: Supporting hybrid TDM/IP telephony environments, the G350 allows enterprises to take an evolutionary approach to IP telephony migration by maximizing investment protection for existing analog and digital devices.
  • Converged All-in-One Device: The G350 integrates telephony, routing, and data switching into one box, reducing the overhead and complexity of managing disparate gateways, routers, and switches.
  • Reduced Deployment Costs: The G350 can be easily installed at the branch office, and remotely configured by a central support staff. This eliminates the cost of on-site installation requiring a skilled technician, and allows the enterprise to get branch offices operational quickly.
  • Networked Telephony: The G350 is designed to be part of an Avaya Enterprise Connect network. This extends Avaya Communication Manager telephony services from a central media server to all branch office locations, significantly reducing costs by enabling the enterprise to design and administer telephony services for branch office locations from one central location.
  • Business Continuity: With support for server fall-back functionality, and the option for an internal S8300 Media Server, the G350 provides branch office users with a highly resilient system that continues to provide telephony call control if the connection between the office and primary headquarters server is lost. Even if the branch office loses power, an Emergency Transfer Relay (ETR) in the G350 automatically connects an analog port to the PSTN, allowing the office to make and receive emergency calls.

The G350 Media Gateway is a converged networking device that incorporates a IP Telephony Gateway, an advanced IP WAN router, and a high-performance LAN switch into a compact modular chassis designed for industry standard 19” data rack mounts.

The G350 chassis is 3U high and contains six media expansion slots.  Five slots use the same form factor as the G700 Media Gateway, and will support use of several MM7XX voice media and MM34X IP WAN routing modules. One of the slots can also house an optional S8300 media server configured as either an Internal Call Controller (ICC) or a Local Survivable Processor (LSP).  The G350 has one slot for High-Density Media Modules (HDMM), which provide for cost-effective DCP and PoE telephony expansion.  The G350 also hosts several ports for connectivity for WAN/LAN, analog, Contact Closure, USB and console access.  An Emergency Transfer Relay (ETR) feature connects the fixed analog trunk port to one of the fixed analog station ports during a power outage to ensure basic telephony service for emergency calls to and from the office.

As part of an Avaya Enterprise Connect Solution, the G350 is designed to network back to a central External Call Controller (ECC), such as the S8500 or S8700 Media Server.  This significantly reduces costs by enabling the enterprise to design and administer telephony services for all remote branch office locations from one central location.  For business continuity, the G350 can be configured to register with up to 3 back-up servers if the primary server fails.  A local S8300 media server can also be optionally installed as a Local Survivable Processor (LSP) to provide enhanced local survivability.  The LSP acts as the server of last resort, taking over telephony controller functions for the G350 if all other means fail.
